This week was SO amazing! It seems like everywhere we turned there were miracles!
Monday- We helped our two teenage girl inv. prepare for camp. We gave them Scriptures (they didn't have any) and journals to take notes in at camp! We also have a wonderful meal with our Bishop! We talked to him about preach my gospel the week before and him and his wife took our challenge (pick a question on pg. 107 that you want to know more about and answer it for yourself using the scriptures) and they went above and beyond he studied why we need Jesus Christ to be our savior and applied to our lives in a really beautiful way! Wonderful day!
Tuesday-We had a lesson with our Inv. Sam in the morning and it was a great member present lesson. We taught him about the restoration of Christ's church and helped him understand why we need Jesus Christ as our savior (see why Bishop's insights were so wonderful... He helped us prepare for sam's lesson) Same WANTS to know more yay!
Wednesday- so our carpet got replaced this day... So we lived out of our car for 24 hrs..... yup awesome! We had to eat out all day and I have come to a conclusion... I DON'T LIKE FAST FOOD.... Give me a home cooked meal any day! We worked with our investigator Mindy today.... she is having such a tough time. She is having to deal with the divorce of a really close friend and it is hitting home for her. She doesn't see why God would allow so many people to suffer. It's hard because Sister Madsen and I don't really know how to help. Sister Madsen has never been in a relationship, and I have but I have never been married or divorced (thank goodness) but it kind of leaves us in a weird place where we feel like we are in over our heads. We are not sure how to help her just yet, but we are praying for guidance and we know with time we will know how to help her.
We also went to the Lutheran church this night... There was a youth group from Wisconsin there and so there were over 40 helpers in the kitchen... so we weren't exactly needed. Ha so we ate dinner with the homeless. A member came with us and she loved it! She is bringing her daughters with her and joining us again this next week!
Thursday- Happy Birthday Harry Potter! Yup i went there ;) I may or may not have decorated my planner with harry potter stickers.... ha ha So this day was interesting we went to see a potential that is 90.... and she is SPUNKY! She showed us photos from her 90th birthday/funeral (she doesn't want a funeral since she will be dead so she had her kids through her a birthday party/memorial where she got to party the night away.) Anyways some of her photos were a little risque... we had to tell her we didn't want to see them ah ah awkward! But she is sweet.
Friday- Friday was a BAD day... So up until Friday we had a member present lesson every day again.... just like last week.... so we wanted to keep the streak going... so we focused on just that... big mistake.... We had one lesson that day and it wasn't a member present lesson. If we would have focused more on where we were supposed to be the day would have gone better... but that is okay that leads us to Saturday....
Saturday- THE BEST DAY EVER! It was really stormy out this morning but still sunny really interesting. Sister Madsen thought she had a kidney stone this morning.. yikes..(she has had one before) I guess twos company.... But thankfully she doesn't or if she did it passed.... We had a miracle Member present lesson with a less active lady that went great! Then the evening came....
We have two investigators that are teenagers and they went to Girl camp this last week, and...had an AMAZING time! We met with them on Saturday and it was such a miracle! At first the girls said they like the things like craft time and the showers, but as we talked they both said they like the time to read scriptures, get to know girls, and the testimony meeting. They both made new friends which was so good for both of them! They both found "favorite scriptures" in Moroni 7 and marked them up and shared with us why they are their favorites! They asked us a bunch of questions about the Book of Mormon which led to a lesson on the restoration of the church. (one of the girls has taken the discussions and the other has just received permission to learn from her parents upon coming home from camp.) After we taught them about the restoration the most amazing thing happened! one of the girl's mom shared her testimony (She is a member and has been helping us teach the girls). She talked about how she has been praying long and hard for a miracle to happen for her little girl concerning her relationship with God. This girl has been isolating herself and refuses to make friends. Well this mom bore testimony of how her prayers had been answered. She never thought her daughter would go to camp, and when she picked her up from camp her smiling face said it all. God truly does answer prayers. This girl made friends and opened up to people. When her mom told her that her prayers had been answered she started crying. This girl DOES NOT let her emotions show... and she was bawling.... (to be honest we all were) after her mom shared her testimony we asked the girls to tell us how they were feeling. The daughter bore such a sweet testimony and told her mom that for the first time in a long time she doesn't feel alone. She has a hard time making friends but camp helped her realize that even the "popular girls" go through hard times. She is NEVER alone and that was really comforting for her. She also said that camp helped her to realize that Heavenly Father really does care about her! The other girl bore similar testimony of how she had also felt alone and didn't anymore. Her story is a little different, she doesn't have a whole lot of family here and she has gone through some really tough times. She said for the first time in a while she felt like she had a family to turn to! Girls camp answered so many prayers and really helped these girls know that they have a Heavenly Father that loves them so much!
We both felt so prompted to invite them to be baptized and we plain and simple chocked..... :/ We felt really guilty afterwards but... Sunday!!!!!
Sunday- We invited 3 people to be baptized yesterday which never happens for us... and 2 accepted! They both want their baptisms to be on their birthdays... which are in Sept. but we are going to work with them to move their dates up. So we went to Church and the two girls came! We gave them a tour of the church and when they saw the baptism font one girl said "That will be me soon!" What?!?!? It doesn't stop there folks... Church was fast and testimony meeting... oh ya.... our INVESTIGATOR got up and bore her testimony. She shared how she has let her guard down and Satan tore her down but she recognized how special she was a camp and she isn't going to let Satan win anymore. She wants to increase her faith and come closer to God! After Church we went to see a part member family...We saw a man named doug that is SO ready to join the church. We invited him to be baptized and he accepted! WAHOOOO!!!!!! One of our teenage girls on dates and she leaves to Indiana for 3 weeks in a week and a half. We are going to do our best to teach her all we can before she goes... She still needs to live some commandments... so we are working with her... BUT her mom and dad gave her permission to investigate and they told her that if this is what she wants then that is fine! The other girl said no to baptism but we KNOW that she felt the spirit at camp and she is being prepared! we are going to keep working with her and helping her so that when the time is right she will say yes!
