Week Ending July 7th, 2014

This week was... hard... but good. We had a really low lesson week. Sister Madsen and I have both set really high expectations for ourselves and for our district and with that being said I know Satan is doing everything he can to tear us down. As a District we want to find 100 souls that are prepared and waiting. We have made a transfer goal of finding 33 souls as a companionship that are ready to enter into the covenant of Baptism with the Lord. I know that this goal is 100% possible! As a zone we want to find 119 people... The only way this will happen is with EXTRAORDINARY FAITH. I love the word Extraordinary... It implies more than ordinary faith... meaning putting ourselves out there! So why not have the faith to find 33 people prepared! If we work our hardest we may or may not have 33 baptisms but I KNOW we will do better then the previous transfer. We have set a few smaller goals as a companionship to achieve this goal:
1. Work more with the Auxiliaries. (We took the time on Sunday to let all the auxiliaries know that the elders are no longer in the ward... and that we need their help. We have 20 investigators and we CANNOT do it on our own.)
2. Focus on the Young Women (We have a lot of 16+ girls in this ward and quite a few are preparing/thinking about serving a mission... so we really want to get them involved first hand with missionary work)
3. Keeping a Fire under our Skirts. (We are working hard on keeping each other motivated and remind each other that there truly are 33 souls waiting for the blessings of Baptism and the reception of the Holy Ghost.
So with the Elders being pulled out of Edmond's we adopted their investigators... So our teaching pool at least quadrupled. We were both really stressed out. To be honest neither one of us could sleep through the night without waking up in a panic with all of the things that still need to be accomplished. And my poor companion had a minor panic attack. She turned to me when we were sitting outside one of our new inv. houses and she told me she couldn't breathe and her heart was pounding really fast. So we have both thought long and hard about the people we have adopted and the people we have been working with previously. Many of the people we are working with have been seeing missionaries for over 5 months and have not kept any commitments.... We have felt the need to see them since they were the elders responsibility and now they are ours... but we have decided that a break from missionaries will be good for them. It is important for people to have an opportunity to step back and see what they really want. We don't want to push ANYONE to baptism and we are afraid some of the investigators here have really felt as though they are being pushed.)
4. We want to focus in a lot on part member families. (This isn't to baptize those that are not members, but we really want to help build the faith of the family as a whole. We know this will help people come closer to the Lord and feel of his Love.)

That being said the investigators we started working with this week frustrated us ha ha.... we had free tickets to a concert with Alex Boye(really great lds singer)http://www.mormontabernaclechoir.org/videos/i-want-Jesus-to-walk-with-me?lang=eng
... and we had 5 tickets for our investigator who said he was coming. We drove down to Seattle... paid for parking... went to the theater... and they texted us saying they weren't coming. So Sister Madsen and i went to a concert without investigators... which is a no no... but... we were told to go since our inv. bailed at the last minute. Really frustrated me that they told us at the very last second... They were free tickets! ha oh well i am over it now. :)
So we are laying the law down this week and helping our inv. know that if they want to come closer to the Lord they have to act... we can't do that for them. (not implying that a concert brings us closer to the Lord ha ha but reading the scriptures, praying, and going to church does!)
Fourth of July was good. We had a pancake breakfast at the church and got to spend time with our ward. we had a good time. That evening we went in early though. Our mission presidency asked us to go in at 6 so we did. Fireworks without seeing them sound like bombs ha ha and they went off until 2 am I had to wear ear plugs to sleep ha ha oh fun times. All in all it was a good week and we are ready to get into gear and have an amazing week with lots of help from the ward! Bring it on! Prayers headed our way is much appreciated ha two area books and 21 inv. is STRESSFUL! but really good. We know the Lord trusts us and we will Glory in that which he commands of us! (Alma 29:9)
I hope you all had a good week! I love you all!

Happy Fourth!
